Because Anne Applebaum will be Zooming from Poland, which is six hours ahead of us, we’ll have to record a few hours earlier than our usual live start time. So we’d really appreciate your questions before 11AM ET on Sunday the 15th. Please send them to us at hrdemocracy24@gmail.com, so Anne and Ruth can answer your questions in our Town Hall.

The evening will run for about an hour and a half.

Sunday, January 12th, 7–8:30 PM ET

We’ve noticed that more than a few registrants for our Democracy Town Halls Series received confirmation that they’d successfully registered,
when apparently they may not have.

They look for a confirmation and link in their email, only to receive neither. So, as a useful workaround, we suggest the following:

**IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A LINK AND CONFIRMATION ON YOUR EMAIL, NO FURTHER ACTION IS NECESSARY.
HOWEVER IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED A LINK ON YOU EMAIL, FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW**

  1. Register again on our website.
  2. Although it says you’ve registered, go to the bottom of the page, where it asks if you’ve received an email, and advises you to register again if you haven’t.
  3. Regardless, you should register AGAIN by clicking the link on the bottom line, which asks: “Didn’t get an email? Click here to resend”
  4. Click on “here” link, leading to a captcha, which often says, “I am not a robot.” Click the box and then the blue link. The Conformation should then appear in your email.

Dear Friends:

Democracy ’24 Town Halls concluded last weekend, with historians Jon Meacham and Evan Thomas. As viewers like you, and others who volunteered, we hope you’ll consider making a donation to help defray the substantial production costs of this terrific series of conversions.

Democracy ’24 originated with Marching Towards Justice, a discussion group of the Class of 1975.  However, when no one else was in a position to provide the funds for the project, Rick Lyon, who also produced and hosted the show, agreed to advance the $9,000 necessary to create a website and blast emails, revise them weekly for new guests, edit video archives after each show, and enable you to watch on Zoom.

All along, it was the group’s hope that these funds would be reimbursed to Rick by contributions from viewers and classmates. And we’re writing to ask other D24 fans to help reimburse Rick for doing his part to make the show the success it was.

Though neither MTJ nor Democracy ’24 is a nonprofit with tax-deductible options, we hope you’ll agree that the loss of a write-off is a small price to pay for such a remarkable series of conversations that cost us nothing to watch.

If you’re able to donate, please do so via Venmo, or by personal check payable to Richard Lyon, 179 East 79th Street, New York, NY 10075.

Let’s thank Rick and the entire D24 team by making a contribution today.

Thank you all for helping out.
